Since the Panel for International Disputes was formed in 2020, the number of disputes with a foreign element at the Arbitration Centre has been increasing every year.

As the dispute geography has expanded, the recent version of the Regulation on the Arbitration Centre at the RSPP, that allows a representative offices of the Arbitration Centre including abroad to be established, was updated.

The primary purpose to establish such offices is to inform parties to arbitration and all those concerned in their own language about the Arbitration Centre's work and proceedings under its rules, as well as about the specific nature of Russian legislation on arbitration and the courts' law enforcement practice on arbitration issues.

A representative (Ambassador) of the Arbitration Centre at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Beijing was appointed in view of the growing interest of the Russian business community to cooperate with companies from the Asia-Pacific region, in particular from China. Zhenli Zhang, Partner at ‘DeHeng Law Office’, Research Associate at the Center for the Study of Russian Law at the Political and Law University of China, Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Beijing Bar Association and Arbitrator of the Panel for International Disputes, was appointed to this position.

According to Zhenli Zhang, "representatives of Chinese companies have already shown interest to the Arbitration Centre, mentioning the importance of a significant number of Chinese experts on the list of arbitrators, the modern and user-friendly arbitration procedure established by the rules as well as the reasonable arbitration fee compared to other arbitration institutes."

If the experience of the Arbitration Centre's Ambassador appears to be positive, it will be extended to other countries and the establishment of a permanent representative office in China will be further discussed.
